One thing that repeatedly boggles my mind about travelling in European cities is that they're often strong examples of "we could never do that".

People of all representations bike in Amsterdam (and the Netherlands) with no helmets, all shapes and sizes of people, totally normal, like it's nothing. No ceremony, just a smart default.

It's so frustrating that any group involved in city planning (looking at you Dublin) would look at the existence (not fiction) of this and not want to drop everything to make it a reality in their own city: following the lead from the Dutch over the last 50 years+.

Same for Germany unfortunately. The biggest cities in three of our neighboring countries demonstrate that it's possible to push cars out of the cities, but Berlin is like: nah! We rather build a new city Autobahn. BTW, looking forward to seeing you today at the conference!

Yes! I'll be keeping a low profile until my lazy lunchtime session. I guess Germany has a lot of auto-industry execs.

Same frustration in Madrid 😭. And we have a quite close example of what it is to plan for this in a city, with the big changes made in Barcelona to get cars out. Honestly, I'd trade Berlin anytime for Madrid, Madrid is way worse. I'm spending most of this year in Antwerp 🇧🇪 because of this.

Could I sneak in without getting food?! I'm on a diet anyway and I was too late *again* for registration 🥲

Oh wow! I checked yesterday and assumed that the room would be mostly empty and now it's mostly full! Looks like you were offered a space from the wait list?

I yes, it worked! Got one now 🥳
